The first week of my study abroad session is coming to a close, we've been so busy doing cultural events, orientation, and trying to get acclimated to the new culture. I woke up Sunday 12 January at 07:45 to finish up all my packing and get ready to head to the airport. After saying bye to my family, I met up with another girl going to my school in Dublin who was also on my flight. The flight was an easy 5 and a half hours and the plane was huge. We arrived in Dublin at 05:00 and had to wait in the airport until 10:00 when everyone else in our group had arrived. We then boarded a bus that took us to campus so we could check in and start unpacking. After that, we went to a mall to do some shopping for supplies we needed, then we had a meeting and then we ate dinner and headed back to our rooms. I didn't go to sleep until 9:00 Monday night, I was exhausted. Tuesday we had some more meetings and went into the city centre briefly to take a little walk around to get used to the new place. That night, we all decided to go back into the city centre and go to some pubs, the night life was different than America, but it was a fun night! Wednesday held more meetings and an international welcome reception that the school held for all of us, they even served us beer and wine! It's strange being at a school that serves alcohol at school events. We went back into the city centre Wednesday night and went to another club. Thursday, we had orientation pretty much all day and then another welcome reception. At this point, the jet lag is catching up to me, I made the mistake of taking a nap today by accident and now I am finding myself wide awake at 01:35. So far, I am in love with Dublin and I never want to leave!! I know things are going to change when classes start, but i'm so excited to get involved in a new culture and especially excited to be able to travel while I'm here. Well hopefully I'll have something more exciting to write about next time! Slainte! (that means cheers in Gaelic)
